MARGARET WADDINGTON

ASSOCIATE

Originally from Southern Ontario, Margaret immediately felt at home when she arrived at the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law. Thunder Bay’s emphasis on community, history, and its closeness to nature combined all of the things she loved best about growing up in the small town of Port Hope, living in historical Kingston and spending summers in the Haliburton Highlands at her grandparents’ camp.

In law school Margaret was actively involved in promoting Indigenous rights and advocating for women and children. She has continued pursuing these passions through her work in the local community while also mentoring new students just starting their careers.

Margaret chose Family Law as the center of her practice because she loves working with people. She approaches her practice with a compassionate, co-operative focus aimed at achieving effective resolutions for her clients. She strives to help her clients reach reasonable compromises that preserve their family dynamic as much as possible while also protecting their legal rights.

Margaret has paired her Family Law practice with Wills and Estates and Real Estate, which allows her to continue helping families plan for their future. She can regularly be found at our Walk-in Wills Clinic on Saturday mornings to answer questions or take instructions for your Will.

In her spare time she is a theatre enthusiast, enjoys experimenting in the kitchen, and is a proud cat mom.
