Meghan Payment is the newest addition to the Weilers team. Raised in Thunder Bay, Meghan attended the University of Manitoba as a 2013 Loran Scholar. During her pursuit of a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and Indigenous studies, Meghan spent a summer on the beautiful island of Haida Gwaii working at the Haida Gwaii Higher Education Society and then moved to the much colder island of Iceland, to study at Háskóli Íslands (University of Iceland) for a semester abroad.
Upon completing her undergraduate studies, Meghan continued her education and obtained her Juris Doctor from the Robson Hall Faculty of Law in 2020. At law school Meghan sat as the Vice-President Internal for the Manitoba Law Students’ Association and honed her research and writing skills as the Senior Editor of the Manitoba Law Journal and the Asper Review of International Business and Trade Law. Her interests in nation to nation relations also brought her to Israel, where she spent a summer at the University of Jerusalem learning about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and their intertwined legislative and legal system.
After a seven year stint away from home, Meghan is excited to be back in Thunder Bay. She is accepting clients from a range of areas of law, including corporate, labour and employment, wills and estates, and real estate.
In her spare time, Meghan spends her summers out at camp and her winters skiing. No matter the season, you can find Meghan out hiking or curled up with a good book.
